Complete Beginner

Ditch the stabilisers with our ‘Complete Beginner’ course. This level is ideal for those trainees who have never ridden a two-wheeled bicycle before and would like to learn for the first time. For some, you may still be on tricycles, stabilisers (training wheels) or using balance buddies. For others, it may be time to transition from a balance-bike? If that sounds like a familiar situation, then this is the curriculum for you!

Course Content

We teach the physical and cognitive basics such as understanding the different moving parts of a bicycle, foundations of handling the bike, establishing balance, maintaining mobility and dexterity. In addition, we introduce safe cycling procedures which consciously explore cycle etiquette; ensuring that the essential courtesies of communicating with other path users are in place.

There is much more to cycling than just pedalling. Some trainees may learn to pedal on day one, while others may require additional sessions beyond the course curriculum. For more information, contact us to discuss your needs or concerns.

In a Nutshell: Mechanical Check (M-Check) * Bicycle Orientation & Positioning * Mounting / Dismounting * Balance & Posture * Setting the Pedal * Handling & Manoeuvring * Awareness & Etiquette

For others, you are making outings to the local park, performing school runs and using common areas that require integrating communication excellence. If you want to hone in on your skills while harnessing essential cycling etiquette, then this is the course for you!

We teach how to perform mechanical checks before a ride, shoulder checks, standing when riding, signalling with one hand, turning/figure eights, riding up hills, riding on different terrain, passing pedestrians and communicating properly on shared paths/roads.

Teaching & Training

Our teaching incorporates both physical and psychological training. The courses are structured around 5-hours of teaching and curated to cover a range of skills that advance the trainee’s knowledge and skills. We offer professional hands-on teaching by addressing each individual’s needs as they arise and ensure each child gets the highest quality of attention and instruction.

Whether your child is fresh off stabilisers (or a balance bike), needs to build on skills, or requires guidance on navigating a tricky element of cycling, our courses are designed for a range of trainees. With professional hands-on instruction, we use a proven incremental teaching format that lends itself to different types of learning (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) which results in added confidence for your child in each and every session.

Each course has a set curriculum and our methods are designed to ‘independently’ manage various aspects of cycling, which build lasting confidence. Trainees will progress at different rates, and each child reveals their strengths and growing edges in each session. Consequently, we foster a healthy group environment that champions a good attitude and promotes a positive ‘growth mindset’; contributing to a healthy part of developing the trainee’s ego strength. This can set your child up to succeed with learning new skills and other learning processes thereafter.

“No need to ponder or wait, book em’ on their cycling dates!”
